XPG Topical & Transdermal Gels Guide

XPG Topical & Transdermal Gels Guide

Understand Xtreme Performance Gels, the appeal of skin application and the science behind transdermal delivery.

What are Xtreme Performance Gels?

Xtreme Performance Gels, shortened to XPG, is a specialist range of skin-applied formulas. Instead of taking another capsule or mixing a powder, you use a topical gel according to its application directions.

The range contains different ingredient combinations rather than one standard formula. Some products focus on an individual ingredient, such as epicatechin or 7-OXO-DHEA. Others combine several actives for physique-focused or male-vitality routines. Choosing the right gel starts with its complete ingredient panel and your purpose.

Topical and transdermal: what is the difference?

Topical describes application to the skin. Transdermal describes delivery through the skin, with an ingredient reaching the circulation for a wider effect. Applying something topically does not establish how much reaches the bloodstream.

The outer skin layer, the stratum corneum, acts as a barrier. Molecular size, solubility, the gel's carrier and skin condition all influence movement across it. The carrier is the surrounding formulation that holds the active ingredients and can affect their release and penetration.

This is why an ingredient's oral research cannot simply be transferred to a skin gel. The delivery route, dose reaching the body and finished formula all need consideration.

Why choose a skin-applied format?

The most straightforward benefits of XPG are practical. A gel offers a different way to organise a routine if you prefer skin application to oral products.

  • No capsules to swallow: a useful format preference if you want to avoid adding more tablets or capsules.
  • No drink to prepare: there is no shaker, flavour choice or powder mixing involved.
  • Pump-format application: follow the product's stated pump or millilitre directions to keep use consistent.
  • Focused or blended formulas: choose a particular ingredient or a wider combination, depending on the product.

In a successfully demonstrated transdermal system, an absorbed ingredient can enter circulation without first passing through the digestive tract and the initial liver first-pass route associated with oral delivery. That is a potential advantage of the route, not proof that every XPG gel is better absorbed than an oral alternative.

It also does not mean the liver has no involvement afterwards, that a gel cannot cause side effects, or that it is guaranteed to be gentler for everyone with digestive issues.

Build a sensible application routine

Read the current bottle before your first application. Use the recommended amount on the permitted areas of clean, dry, intact skin. Allow it to dry as directed before dressing, and wash your hands afterwards.

Avoid eyes, mucous membranes and broken or irritated skin. Stop using the product if irritation develops. Do not try to increase penetration with heat, damaged skin or extra application beyond the label.

Review the full ingredient list alongside your existing products. Lipoderm Xtreme, for example, lists caffeine, yohimbine and synephrine: a topical product should not automatically be assumed stimulant-free. Other XPG formulas have different actives and precautions.

If you take medication, have a medical condition or are unsure about an ingredient, check suitability with a qualified professional. These products are for adult external use and are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Frequently asked questions

Are all XPG gels the same?

No. The ingredients and application directions differ. Compare each complete formula rather than treating the range as one product.

Does transdermal mean 100% absorption?

No. Absorption depends on the active ingredient, formulation and skin. A percentage requires appropriate testing of the finished product.

Can I replace an oral dose with the same milligrams of gel?

Do not assume the doses are equivalent. The amount in the gel is different from the amount demonstrated to reach circulation.

Can a topical gel burn fat only where I apply it?

Application to a selected area does not by itself establish local fat loss. Avoid treating that as a guaranteed benefit.

Are XPG gels swallowed or mixed into a drink?

No. The featured XPG gels are for external use only. Follow the application directions on the bottle.

Is every XPG product stimulant-free?

No. Lipoderm Xtreme lists stimulant ingredients, including caffeine, yohimbine and synephrine. Check each formula individually.
